Infosys selects freshers through three tracks in 2026: SE, SP, and PP, each with different tests, eligibility thresholds, and starting packages. Which one you target shapes the prep entirely.

The three tracks and what each requires

Choosing a track before opening a textbook is the most practical first step. The three tracks differ on CTC, on what the online test includes, and on how demanding the technical round gets.

TrackCTCCore selection criteria
System Engineer (SE)₹3.6 LPAOnline aptitude test + technical interview + HR
Specialist Programmer (SP)₹6.5 LPAStronger coding section + DSA-focused technical + InfyTQ preferred
Power Programmer (PP)₹9.5 LPATop HackWithInfy or InfyTQ ranking + typically 7.5+ CGPA

SE is the primary campus pipeline and the route most freshers take. SP nearly doubles the SE package. The difference between SE and SP comes down to two things: a coding section in the test and InfyTQ certification. Students who start InfyTQ four to six weeks before their test date can realistically target SP. PP is a smaller cohort drawn from top performers in HackWithInfy and InfyTQ’s advanced tiers.

Eligibility criteria for 2026

Infosys applies a consistent eligibility baseline across most campus drives. The requirements for all three tracks:

  • 60% or equivalent aggregate in Class 10
  • 60% or equivalent aggregate in Class 12
  • 60% or equivalent CGPA or aggregate in graduation (all semesters, including electives, practicals, and language papers)
  • No active backlogs at the time of the online test
  • Education gap of at most two years

The aggregate calculation is strict. Infosys includes every subject: optional papers, practical components, language courses, and additional subjects. If your college uses a CGPA grading system, convert to percentage using your university’s official conversion formula, not a rounded or approximate one.

If your institution uses a letter-grade or point-grade system, request the official percentage equivalency certificate from your examination office. Infosys’s verification team cross-checks academic records, and a manually estimated conversion is a common document issue at the offer stage.

Students who completed a diploma after Class 10 and entered B.E./B.Tech as lateral entrants handle the aggregate in two separate parts: the diploma aggregate across all three years of the diploma, and the engineering aggregate from the second year onward. Both components must independently meet the aggregate threshold.

For off-campus applicants, the eligibility criteria are the same, though the recruitment calendar and application process differ. The Infosys off-campus, on-campus, and referral drive guide covers how each channel works and when drive cycles typically open.

The online test pattern

The SE-track online test runs 100 minutes with 54 questions. The SP track has the same three core sections plus a coding section.

SectionQuestionsWhat it tests
Quantitative Ability15Percentages, ratios, time and work, number series, data interpretation
Logical Reasoning15Syllogisms, seating arrangements, coding-decoding, blood relations
Verbal Ability24Reading comprehension, sentence correction, fill-in-the-blanks
Coding (SP only)variesData structures, algorithms, problem-solving in a preferred language

Verbal ability has the largest question count. Reading comprehension passages make up a significant share: read the passage once, identify the main argument, and answer from the text rather than from inference. The quantitative and logical sections repeat a recognisable pattern across most campus placement tests, so preparation transfers from other company tests with minimal rework.

The SP coding section is qualitatively different from the SE aptitude test. It moves into tree traversal, graph problems, and dynamic programming. Students aiming for SP need eight to ten extra weeks of data structures work beyond the standard aptitude prep. A practical split for SP: four weeks of DSA fundamentals, two weeks of quantitative and logical, one week of verbal, then two weeks of full-length mock tests.

For timed practice with real test formats, the Infosys placement papers with solutions archive replicates past test structures with worked answers across all sections. Aim for at least three full-length timed runs before the actual test date.

Online test logistics: the proctored setup

The Infosys test is fully proctored via webcam. Getting flagged for a technical violation wastes the attempt. The requirements are specific and non-negotiable.

System and environment

  • Desktop or laptop with an i3 processor or higher and 4 GB RAM minimum
  • Functional webcam; stable internet connection (at least 2 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload)
  • Google Chrome version 70 or above; pop-up blocker disabled
  • Mobile devices and tablets are not supported
  • Uninterrupted power supply for the full test duration

For the physical setup: overhead lighting at daylight brightness (not behind you), a plain background with no visible writing on walls, and no other person in the camera frame. Any second person detected in the webcam feed results in disqualification.

During the test

  • Log in within 15 minutes of your scheduled slot; the login window closes after that
  • Do not switch out of the test screen — any window switch is automatically tracked and flagged
  • No headphones, earphones, or external audio devices
  • Close all communication applications (Skype, Teams, WhatsApp Web) before starting
  • Calculators are not permitted; stationery items are allowed
  • Your face must remain fully visible throughout; partial visibility counts as a violation

The proctoring system records webcam feed, window focus, and keyboard activity for the entire session. Students have reported disqualification for background noise, dim lighting, and switching to a calculator app mid-test. Take one or two full dry runs on your test machine before the actual date.

Where AI skills change the equation

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh confirmed in Q4 FY26 earnings that Infosys pays differently for candidates with AI-attuned skills. The same commentary disclosed that Infosys is building a pool of forward-deployed engineers to work on AI solutions directly with clients. Infosys onboarded 20,000 freshers in FY26 and plans the same intake for FY27, but the mix of that intake is shifting toward candidates with demonstrable AI exposure.

For SE-track candidates, the online test structure has not changed. What has changed is what gets you from SE to SP, and from SP into the forward-deployed pool. Technical and HR rounds now probe AI exposure: personal projects, LLM experimentation, and whether you can describe what you built in concrete terms rather than listing tools.

The Infosys interview guide for freshers covers what technical and HR panels ask in 2026 and how to frame AI experience honestly. If you want a curriculum for building the kind of AI exposure that holds up in those conversations, the 2026 AI roadmap for Indian engineering students maps a self-study path that fits inside a typical placement timeline.

The 20,000-fresher intake still happens. The ₹6.5 LPA and ₹9.5 LPA offers go to candidates who built something beyond the standard syllabus. TinkerLLM at ₹499 is the starting point if you want to ship one AI project before your test date.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Infosys online test pattern for freshers in 2026?

The standard SE-track test runs 100 minutes with 54 questions across quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and verbal ability. The SP track adds a coding section on top of these three.

What percentage is required for Infosys recruitment?

Infosys requires 60% or equivalent CGPA in 10th, 12th, and graduation (all semesters, including electives and practicals). No active backlogs are permitted at the time of the online test.

What is the difference between the Infosys SE and SP tracks?

SE (System Engineer) at ₹3.6 LPA is the standard bulk entry route, selected via the core aptitude test. SP (Specialist Programmer) at ₹6.5 LPA adds a coding component and prefers InfyTQ-certified candidates, nearly doubling the SE package.

Is InfyTQ mandatory for Infosys campus placement?

InfyTQ certification is not mandatory for the SE track but is preferred for SP-track selection. For the PP track at ₹9.5 LPA, top InfyTQ or HackWithInfy performance is part of the selection criteria alongside a CGPA of 7.5 or above.

Can I take the Infosys online test on a mobile phone?

No. Infosys's test guidelines specify a desktop or laptop with an i3 processor or higher. Taking the test on a mobile device or tablet is explicitly not recommended and can result in a technical disqualification.
