Tech Mahindra Off Campus Drive – Candidate Experience

Candidate Details: Atul Vashi (Hyderabad)

I applied for the post of Associate System Engineer on their website as a fresher in Tech Mahindra, Hyderabad. While applying I was asked to submit my latest resume, mark sheets, and a government-issued ID card. After a few days, I got my call letter to attend the interview at their Hyderabad campus. I reached the campus at 8 am, one hour before the scheduled exam time. I had some breakfast from the canteen and then waited outside the exam hall.

The exam started at 9 am, the exam seemed to be of moderate level but the time allotted was only 50 mins for a total of 75 questions. The test was divided into sections and it was made clear that each section has a sectional cut-off. I solved most of the questions accurately and attempted others with a rough estimation since no negative marking was there. As soon as the time got over, a window appeared displaying the details of the exam performance. Those who were able to clear the written exam were displayed a ‘congratulations’ window and others were shown a ‘sorry’ message. Fortunately, I got the congratulations window and in a few minutes, the second round started which required us to convert a given picture into a story. One tip I can give is to always write an optimistic story that has a positive ending.

I was able to clear this round as well and the selected candidates were called to a separate hall for the Technical Round. My turn came at around 2 pm and I entered the interview room. The panel had 3 people waiting. They asked for my resume and started asking questions based on my interests. They first asked me very basic OOPs questions then gave me a paper and a pen where I was supposed to write a program on functions and arrays in any language of my choice. It was easy. The rest of the interview also went well.

Next was the HR Round. I gave a brief introduction, told all my achievements, extracurricular activities, etc. The HR was going through my resume and my story from 2nd round simultaneously while list listening to me. Then she asked There are so many IT companies, why you want to join TechM and I answered with a few statistics, rank, revenues, and customers of the company. The rest of the questions were very common HR questions. In the end, she asked if I had any questions. I asked her experience in Tech M and she replied with a very positive answer.

Afterward, we waited in the hall for almost an hour eagerly waiting for the results. This was the most stressful part of the whole interview process. Finally, one of the coordinators came and announced the results, and luckily my name was also on the list!
