TCS conducts on campus drives and off campus drives to recruit freshers and professionals with experience for various roles. We will discuss the TCS recruitment process 2018 for freshers in detail now.
A candidate appearing for the TCS Recruitment Process should have had a minimum of 60 percent throughout his/her degree. The candidate shouldn’t have any backlogs at the time of the recruitment.
The TCS recruitment process consists of 3 rounds. The rounds are as follows:
Online Test
Technical Interview + Managerial Round
HR Interview
The first round of the latest TCS recruitment process is an online test and test pattern has changed since 2017.
In the old TCS online test, the candidates had to answer a total of 41 questions in a span of 90 minutes including 30 multiple choice aptitude questions which had to be answered in 60 minutes. The test also included 10 technical questions which had to be answered in 20 minutes. The final part of TCS online test was the Email writing task for which candidates are given 10 minutes. Each of the multiple choice questions carried 1 mark and for every wrong answer one-third of the marks allotted i.e., 0.33 marks will be deducted.
According to the latest TCS Exam Pattern or the TCS Exam Pattern 2018 candidates have to answer a total of 42 questions in 90 minutes. TCS has made a few changes to their test pattern. The new TCS test pattern 2018 consists of 4 sections. The sections are as follows:
Verbal Ability/English Test (Email Writing)
Quantitative Aptitude
Programming Language Efficiency
Coding Test (based on command line arguments)
The split up of questions across sections according to the new TCS Test Pattern 2018 is as follows:
The Quantitative Aptitude section has 20 questions which have to be answered in 40 minutes. The Programming Language Efficiency section has 20 questions which have to be answered in 20 minutes. Then there are the other two sections, the email writing section also known as the English test and the coding section with one question each. You will have 10 minutes for the email writing section and 20 minutes for the coding section.
In this section, you have to answer 20 questions on quantitative aptitude and reasoning in 40 minutes. The pattern for this section has changed a little. Due to the addition of two new sections, the number of questions has come down from 30 to 20 and the time for this section has also come down from 80 minutes to just 40 minutes. There is negative marking in this section. All the questions don’t carry the same weightage. Some questions will be marked with a star will carry a higher weightage.This means that more marks will be deducted if you get these star questions wrong. It’s advisable to only attend these questions if you know the answer for sure. Accuracy is key in this section. Topics to be covered for this section are as follows:

Mixtures and Allegations
Algebra and Functions
Numbers
Percentages
Profit and Loss
Time, Speed and Distance
Time and Work
Ratio and Proportions
Probability
Permutation and Combination
Geometry
If you are thorough with all these topics, you can easily crack this section. Try to solve the easy questions first. You should have solved at least 10 questions in the first 20 minutes. Go through the entire set of questions once and save the questions which are easy and time-consuming for later.
Avoid guessing but if you are going to guess, use the options and eliminate them to arrive at the answer.

In this section, you have to write an email for the given scenario within 10 minutes. For example, they might ask you to write an email to the client to try out your new products. There is no negative marking in this section.
Read the question and understand it carefully
Usage of words (use the keywords mentioned in the question)
Don’t make spelling mistakes
Avoid typing errors and technical jargon (The email should be simple for everyone to read)
Use simple sentences
Pay attention to grammar
Keep the email brief and to the point
Don’t skip any of the given words or phrases
In this section, objective questions on programming (basics of C and C++) will be asked. You could be asked to predict the output or to find the errors. Most of the questions will be based on input, output, debugging and basic programming concepts. So, be thorough with basics so that you can easily answer all the questions. There is negative marking in this section. For every wrong answer, 0.33 marks will be deducted.
In this section, one coding question will be given and you have to use command line arguments to get inputs. They will give you 4 test cases and your program should pass all 4 test cases. This round will have only one real-time programming question.
You can compile the code only 10 times.
You will have to get the exact output given in the question.
You have to pass all the test cases.
You cannot use any input functions which are used in C, C++ etc.
Make sure that your code is robust and crisp. The number of lines of code will be evaluated and remember that partial outputs will not be validated as the test-taking interface uses an inbuilt compiler.
After clearing your first round, you will be called for an interview which is the face to face round where they will ask you technical questions.
Questions will be asked from various programming languages like C, C++, and JAVA. Most of the questions will be based on your area of interest and also from your project. So be prepared with whatever you have mentioned in your resume. Be confident and thorough with your concepts.
TIPS: Give answers elaborately along with examples so that they can understand clearly what you are trying to convey.
In the managerial round, they will basically test your attitude and behavior. So here, the questions will be situation based where you will be given one scenario and asked to respond or handle the situation. This round is more like a stress interview and also there is a possibility of the panelists checking your technical knowledge. Be calm and confident.
This is the final round and your communication skills will be tested.
